When I was around 11, I was already reading the Bible. At 44, I began keeping the Sabbath laws, but on Sunday. In 2016, I discovered that the Sabbath was on Saturday, and I discovered the Jews. Through all that journey, I had never understood the magnitude of the Temple, and why the Jews cling to it. Today I understood the spiritual significance of the Temple. The only part of the Earth where the Creator chose to show His presence was first in the Tent of Meeting, and later in the Temple. And He specified every detail, both to Moses and King Solomon. Now I understand, and it makes me want to cry. Thank you for your teachings. Reply

The Chabad custom is not to eat meat even if we make the Siyum. See Sefer Haminhogim Chabad page 46.
The reason for the Siyum is to increase Torah study, as the prophet says through Mishpat and Tzedakah, Zion will be redeemed. Reply

Yes, according to the Alter Rebbe it's permitted to eat wine and meat in a Seuda Mitzvah (meal of the siyum) but it's part of our customs in Chabad to even we can, don't do that because we do the siyum for the joy of learning Torah and not for the food. But if you do a Seuda Mitzvah because it's very happy moment for you through the Siyum, in that case it's ok to eat meat and drink wine. Reply

There are some chabad rabbis who disagree with that statement. And allow or encourage the participants of the siyum to have meat and wine. Reply

Sorry, but you need to be at the Siyum to be able to eat meat and wine.

Please note that even at a live local Siyum, the Chabad custom is not to eat meat or drink wine although L'Chayim on Whisky is said during the meal celebration Reply

In the intro to the very first siyum broadcast this year, Rabbi Hecht said some people even eat meat ...wasn't clear that this is not a chabad custom. Sounded like eating meat and drinking wine was specifically one of the ways we add joy with these broadcasts Reply
