Upon seeing a wounded soldier,
 one is immediately struck by the fact
 that this is an individual who protected him
 (the one observing the soldier),
 his family, and his people
—while placing himself,
 willingly, in mortal danger.
 In fact, the “signature”
 of this self-sacrifice
 is now etched in the soldier’s body...
