Day Workers

The darker the world, the brighter the light. The world is darkest through the eyes of mainstream media. Who knows what's going on really.
I live alone and the only connection I have with people are on the television.
When I'm able I go out to the store to get supplies I meet real flesh in the blood people there. Each person I have an exchange of conversation with seem glad to shine a little light just by holding the door, saying thank you, excuse me, or have a nice day. Then I come home renewed in my faith in man. I didn't know their name or anything else about them, but we shared the crowed hour of the moment, if not for them; for me.
I didn't get my Dose of Wisdom for 4 days. I didn't know if I was expelled for some reason or if it was a glitch in your system. I resubscribed just in case. If there was another reason let me know and I will unsubscribe. Reply

I’m not a miracle worker, and I’m not sure if they exist only in the mind. G d is the only true miracle worker, I know and need to know. When night time falls, I lay my head on the pillow and my mind still continues to work, so I guess I’m a night time worker, as well as, a day time worker. Night time is a quiet time when I plan tomorrow’s calendar out with G d. I first check in with him to see if he has any thing special in mind for me to take upon myself before getting started with my daily routine. Since I’m definitely a daytime worker, there never seems to be a problem of finding some needy person along the way to help get on the bus, in the car or even thru the doorway with a wheelchair, or just an arm full of books. Anyone who says they can’t seem to find any people to help is saying to me that they aren’t walking, riding or running with their eyes open. Some people spend their whole lifetime never seeing what’s truly in front of their face; they only see themselves. Reply

Yesterday, Hashem blessed me with an opportunity to be a day-worker. I had to make a run to Braum's for few things and spent enough to get a box of ice cream sticks which is something I can't eat. I asked the cashier if she would give them to a senior or a customer who couldn't afford a treat. I started to leave, then walked back and told the homeless that stay in the area would be fine, too.

What made it extra special was her immediate response of "that was what I was planning to do." Then she added, "you will be blessing twelve people instead of one!" (I had no idea there were 12!) Her smile was from ear to ear and that is when I felt blessed!

After reading this DD, I realized the smallest thing may be a tiny bit of light for someone who has nothing. I have talked to some of these homeless young people, most of whom have been decent people trying to survive in miserable conditions. Reply

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in the Lord your G-d with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path." G-d is the resource and the people are the source or the conduit through which a needed miracle flows through. Our day can be someone's night. But to G-d day and night is one for the Lord G-d is with you (Micah 7:7-8). Especially, when man fail you. In those moments when man fails to be a day-worker (without G-d), and your day turns to night, G-d himself can be your night-worker and turn your midnight into day, your mourning into dancing, and lift your sorrow. There can be no our without G-d. HaShem will not allow it. Ask Moses. He will tell you.

Trust G-d and thank HaShem for obedient day-workers through whom G-d's miracles can become evident.

Importantly, G-d does not need man to perform a supernatural miracle. Ask Daniel and Job. They will tell you.

Working Together Behind today's trends of independence, individualism and privacy - the light reveals that behind this facade we are really all interconnected, interdependant and our thoughts are open to the universe. In a global world we need to work as one system to succeed and progress. This method of work turns dark crises into day. Reply

Comment What a wonderful comment. I try to do some little mitzvot every day. Actually, it isn't really hard. Usually I make a lunch and pass it on to one of the people with a "Hungry" sign. I don't give money and only one time in many many years did a man refuse. He must not have really been hungry, just wanting money.

Believe me when I say it makes me as happy as them. Once a year between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur I give a New Start bag to someone.....clean clothes, shaving equipment, soap and shampoo with a note encouraging them to "Start Over." One year I know a man actually did because he left a "message" with another man to let me know he had a job!! Reply

It's my day off but I'm in my office trying to finish some work. It seems to be a lot of paper work and I'm worried where to start from. But your optimistic words encouraged to finish this work.
