December 20, 2012 8:45 AM
The Jewish community of Vietnam recently marked the opening of the nation’s first mikvah (ritual bath). More than one hundred community members and oversees businessmen gathered to salute the new mikvah and Chabad-Lubavitch of Vietnam, headed by Rabbi Menachem and Rachel Hartman.
“When I first arrived in Vietnam,” said Inat Levine, representative of the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam, “I could not believe that there was no mikvah. Today I can gratefully say that, yes, there is one! The Jews of Vietnam can now fulfill this important Jewish tradition.”
