Hillel would say, “Be of the disciples of Aaron. Love peace. Chase after peace. Love all those that G‑d created, and draw them towards the Torah.” —Mishnah Avot

Hillel seems to tell us that we must love others in order to draw them to G‑d and Torah.

But why must there be an agenda to love?

Why can’t we love for the sake of love?

The answer is that Hillel wants you to love the true essence of every human being, and that is the divine spark within them.

When you love people in this way, you will awaken that spark from its profound slumber.

As the divine seeks the divine, so they will be pullled as a matter of course towards G‑d and His Torah.
